211/365 dirty windshield

well, I was thinking it was just a matter of time before I got rid of her. Not worth paying for parking and insurance when I hardly ever drive and there are 15 Zipcars in the same parking lot… But then, I thought I’d give Lyft a try. So, applied today and assuming I pass whatever interviews / inspections they do, I may be picking up passengers to pay for parking to keep my baby – for now.

210/365 unsafeway

the supermarket next to our house is officially a Safeway, the second largest Supermarket chain in America. However, unofficially it is known as “Unsafeway” or “Not-So-Safeway”… Toshimi doesn’t really like it. I love it because it is a 2 minute walk. Nyla and Kylie particularly liked this aisle, the ice cream aisle…

we got rid of cable and satellite. But still Nyla is a TV girl…

208/365 cosplay

today was some JPOP festival in SF. Since we live next to Japantown and came from Japan, of course we went. It was fun because we didn’t plan to be there, but after some thought, I felt bad for Japanese people (including Toshimi). This seems to be the image people have of Japan – anime and otaku (nerds). Definitely a small niche of Japan, but not really the norm. I guess it would be like if there was a US Festival in Japan and everyone celebrated Honey BooBoo and The Real Housewives… Anyway, these nice cosplayers were more than happy to take a picture with Nyla & Kylie, even if the girls didn’t look happy in the pic (they were).

207/365 grit, grime, and grease

one of the fantastic things about San Francisco is that I am commuting by bike. Sure, round trip it is only 2.5 miles, but still 2.5 miles more than I was riding daily before. And that much less money spent on gas as well. I was told I shouldn’t commute on this bike – that the either the roads would break it or it would get stolen – so I have decided to test that theory to see which happens first.

206/365 demo day

206/365 demo day, originally uploaded by ajbrusteinthreesixfive.

today I went to my first real Demo Day. This was 500 Startups, one of the biggest Accelerators in Silicon Valley. Left halfway through because I had more important things to do (sell my TV on Craigslist) but saw 16 pitches, two of which I thought were really good. Looking forward to when we’ll be standing on one of these stages…

205/365 meat and cheese

the ATL team came to town for 24 hours today and we went out to a nice carnivorous restaurant with David and Ross. Meat and cheese – all I need. Just wish they didn’t put that green stuff on there…

204/365 ignitor in san fran

day two of our Ignitor session in San Francisco. Interviewed an Ayurveda doctor today – had no idea what that was, but pretty interesting. Anyway, it was a block away from Alamo Square so figured I take everyone over to see the famous scene from Full House.

203/365 the wild ones

got to meet up with Flickr celebrities Sarah, Shane, and once again Joel this evening after their US road trip stop in SF to see Flickr. They are my Flickr heroes, and surely going off to do some magical, wonderful, crazy things. I will live vicariously through them.

202/365 some more new friends

made it to the San Francisco Zoo today (became annual members in fact) and Nyla and Kylie got to make two new friends, Emily and Chloe. Ages match up nearly perfectly and the older ones seemed to get along well while the younger just did their own things. After chasing them down all day, somehow miraculously got them all lined up to take a picture. Nice zoo btw.
