365/365 finished

well, that’s that. This 365, along with the fro, are gone. After lots of thought on how to finish this out, decided that the best way to do this wouldn’t be some elaborate shot, but rather a haircut – out with the old, in with the new. The tattered shirt and jeans and the lost hair, well I guess they symbolize the struggles this 365 project has been. But it was worth it – got a ton of great pics, just as many not so great pics, and surely became a better photographer in between. Funny that the hardest thing for me about this project wasn’t taking a picture everyday (which was definitely hard) but rather choosing the only one that could be the picture of the day.

So, me being me, rather than give into a challenge, I decided to up the ante for 2012 – forget the 365, I’m taking on the elusive 366. Stay tuned.

well, the second to last photo for my 365 has to be a family shot since 365 won’t be (although I still haven’t figure out what it will be…). And it had to be at the Love’s truck stop somewhere between Charleston and Atlanta, because just as we stopped at some random Love’s in GA on the way to Savannah the same time last year, we stopped for the family pic there this time as well. If you ever have the opportunity to stop for gas on a road trip where there is a Love’s station, check it out. Awesome store, nice people, random crap for sale, decent bathrooms, and even showers and fast food.

legend has it that this tree, the Angel Oak, outside of Charleston SC is over 1500 years old. It is the oldest Oak tree in the world and one of the biggest. I figured who would be visiting an Oak tree in the middle of nowhere on a winter morning – but of course, there were 30 other people there and getting a clear shot of the only attraction there was going to be impossible. So, we got a family shot instead. Amazing tree.

she doesn’t have NBA ups yet, but still loves jumping. And loves her lollipops. And loves taking photos (for about 30 seconds). And loves traveling. All good things. This was in front of the United States Custom House in downtown Charleston SC as we were getting ready to head out to a fabulous hotdog lunch.

headed off to Charleston SC for our first road trip with Kylie – 5 hours on the road but about 7 or 8 in total. Obviously, when we saw this sign in the middle of nowhere town somewhere near the SC and GA border, we had to stop.

although she doesn’t seem to have any interest in being a model, she got to pose with a few Abercrombie models at the mall today. I don’t know – Nyla feels more Gap. Old Navy, or Uniqlo to me. Well, at least the Abercrombie girl model wasn’t topless.

baby’s first Christmas – and from the look of it, it was a good one. She has no idea what is happening (and she also has no idea she is going to be regifted half of this stuff for her first birthday) but she got a ton from family and friends – in fact the two girls got way too much, and will soon learn that being giving makes us even happier than receiving.
